The Institute focuses on human resource development, agripreneurship promotion, capacity building, and livelihood enhancement, predominantly among women’s self-help groups and rural youth. Prajakta Women Employment Project
Prajakta HRD has designed an alternative income generation program for those unemployed bidi workers. The details of this program are attached here with
Goal
To create sustainable employment and enhance skill development for ex-bidi women workers through SHG-based micro-enterprise models.
Employment Generation Project for Ex Bidi Women Employee – 10 women first batch
Methodology: To form Self Help group of 10 Women
Project To hire 300 sq. ft. work shed – room on lease
Prepare the room as per FSMS – Food Safety Management
Use Carpet for Hygiene & Separation of working area by curtain
Purchase of 1 electronic weighing scale, hand gloves, grading table, stools,
Provision of light and fan in the shed
Activity
Prajakta IHRDR (PIHRDR) to sign MOU with Prajakta Technology Private Limited (PTPL) for pre-processing of Green Chilly, Curry Leaves, cloves, orange and lemon
PTPL will supply daily 500 kg raw material for pre-processing
SHG will clean the raw material under PIHRD’s supervision and training and forward to PTPL
Expected Outcomes
- The Ex-bidi employee will get more income than bidi wages in better environment- within only 20 days of working.
- The women will learn new skills without travelling too far from their place of residence and gain confidence for self-employment. The new environment will be healthier and hygienic than handling tobacco.
- The health issues – like respiratory system problems, body posture will be recovered by scientific sitting arrangement and movements
- The SHG unit will earn profit. Can be invested for productivity and expansion
